The Gallipoli 100 Surfboat Race

The surfboat race will take place over two days, the 23 and 24 April 2015. The boats will enter the water at Eceabat in the Dardanelles on Day 1, 23 April 2015, then proceed to the Start Line at the narrow Kilitbahir - Canakklae strait. Stage one where the boats will be assisted by the Dardanelles current, will be a distance of 8 kilometres to the Lighthouse Monument, Stage two 12 kilometres Morto Bay where single crews will start. Stage three 9 kilometres to X Beach. Stage four 14 kilometres to Kum Limani. Day 2, 24 April 2015, will be 10 kilometres from Kum Limani to the Finish Line at Ariburnu (the promontory between ANZAC Cove and North Beach). There will be mandatory time delays (5 minutes) at the end of each stage on Day 1, and crew changes can occur at the end of each stage/day; as explained below.  Single crews will start at Morto Bay.

     There can be one to four crews per boat competing in the following divisions:
 
  • Mens' open;
  • Mens' masters;
  • Mens' Junior (U 23);
  • Womens' open;
  • Womens' junior (U 23);
  • Mixed Crews
     This means that with one to four crews per boat, there can be a total of 24 divisions.
